Common questions

Heating and air conditioning answers for Central to South Brevard County

Do you charge for estimates?

No. Estimates are free. Call or send us the form and we’ll come look at the system, talk through your options, and give you a price in writing before any work starts.

What areas do you cover?

Central to South Brevard County — Palm Bay, West Melbourne, Melbourne, Melbourne Beach, Satellite Beach, Indian Harbour Beach, and Viera. If you’re close to that list but not on it, call and we’ll tell you straight whether we can get to you.

Who actually shows up to do the work?

Logan, the owner. Every job is performed by the owner — no subcontractors and no sales team. The person who quotes the job is the person who does it.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Ox Air & Heat, LLC is licensed and insured in the State of Florida under certification #CAC1824751, and EPA 608 certified for refrigerant handling. Ask any contractor for their license number before they touch your system.

My AC isn’t cooling. What should I check before calling?

Four quick things: make sure the thermostat is set to cool and the batteries are good, check that the breaker for the air handler and the outdoor unit hasn’t tripped, look at your air filter, and check whether the condensate drain float switch has shut the system off (a full drain line will do that on purpose). If none of those are it, give us a call.

If you smell gas or burning, or suspect a carbon monoxide problem, leave the building and call 911 or your utility first.

How often should a system be serviced in Florida?

At least once a year, and twice is better here. Our systems run most of the year in this heat and humidity, which means more wear, more condensate, and more chance for a drain line or coil to foul. Most of the emergency calls we get are things a tune-up would have caught.

Should I repair my system or replace it?

It depends on the age of the unit, what failed, and what the repair costs relative to a new system. A ten-year-old unit with a bad capacitor is worth fixing. A fifteen-year-old unit with a failed compressor usually isn’t. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at and let you decide — we don’t push replacements on systems that have life left.

Do you work on brands you didn’t install?

Yes. We service and repair all major residential and light commercial brands, regardless of who put the system in.

How do you size a new system?

By doing the math on your specific home — square footage, insulation, windows, ductwork, and layout — not by matching whatever tonnage was there before. An oversized unit short cycles and leaves your house humid; an undersized one never catches up. Both cost you money.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, check, and credit or debit card.
